In 1906, Takehiko Yamaguchi founded Yamatake Shokai.

On December 1, 1906, our founder, Takehiko Yamaguchi, established Yamatake Shokai, the predecessor to the Yamatake Group (now the azbil Group), in Tokyo, the heart of Japan. In 1896, Takehiko, then 27 years old, had had the opportunity to travel to the United States to inspect an overseas nail manufacturing business. He then toured Europe and witnessed the advanced industrial technology in other developed Western countries. Takehiko believed that the introduction of high-quality machine tools from overseas was necessary for the industrial development of Japan, so he started a business as a distributor for a German machine tool manufacturer.

Expanding sales channels to major manufacturing companies

Since then, the company has acquired distribution rights from approximately 50 European and American companies, for machine tools, industrial instruments, and other products. While selling directly imported machinery to the Japanese Navy, the company also actively expanded its sales channels to include various private companies, such as The Japan Steel Works, Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Hitachi, which are still major manufacturing companies today. In addition, while serving as a member of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Takehiko also dedicated himself to sales activities, steadily expanding his business.
